“Forget everything your mother told you about avoiding Strangers with
candy: this cute corner pit stop’s polished floors and red banquette make
for an intimate supper seduction.” |
For entrees we go French with
duck liver and brandy pate ($12.50),
then Asian with steamed prawn
wontons in lemongrass broth ($14.50).
A culture clash but an excuse to dink more to clear the palate and both
are delicious. Formidable! So for main course, I go Fresh again and order
the succulent duck confit with
apple and ginger agrodolce ($26.50).
It melts in my mouth and I wolf down every bite. Sensational! And now it's
time for dessert . Oh! I can't. Oh! I shouldn't. Oh! OK, twist my arm. And
I indulge in the Italian ginger
infused pannacotta ($12.50). Oh!
It slips down like silk and is sooo creamy, I feel like I'm going
to blackout. But then I realise it's a real blackout, oops - and were all
left in the darkness. A bit scary. But I'm not afraid of Strangers with
Candy, not when the candy is as tempting as this. |

The eclectic charm of comforting wood tones, candle-lit tables and burgundy walls and the warm welcome from staff; not to mention the food, which is consistently appetising."
